Spirit of Hope Rescue is a volunteer-run, foster-based, non-profit dog rescue that works with more than 38 Indigenous communities in Manitoba.SOHR was founded on January 30th, 2012, by Cathie Mieyette as a promise to herself, that if she was to survive what was then a lifesaving stem cell transplant, she would start a rescue to help Indigenous communities address the overpopulation of dogs. Cathie is a 4-time cancer survivor and the Executive Director of Spirit of Hope Rescue.
SOHR has rescued over 3500 dogs in the last 9 years. We have up to 115 dogs in foster care at any given time! And we average up to 63 adoptions per month!
